Thailand Personal Data Protection Act Infographic

Following its introduction in 2019, the Thailand Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) became the first comprehensive data protection law in Thailand. The PDPA entered into effect on June 1, 2022, after two postponements due to the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic.
In many respects, the PDPA closely aligns with the GDPR including a similar scope of application, definitions of data controller and data processor, and data subject rights. The PDPA also introduces strict consent requirements for organizations to meet and the obligation to appoint a Data Protection Officer (DPO) in certain circumstances.
