Brazil’s first General Data Protection Law (LGPD) has recently passed through their Senate bringing new privacy protection to Brazilian consumers. Although the LGPD is leaner than the GDPR, there are overlapping principles such as, accountability, purpose limitation, data minimization as well as security and privacy by design. However, the law does retain distinguishing national specifications.
In this guide we review both the familiar and new components of the law and its scope.
