The passage of the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) in June 2018 drew lots of attention. Many parallels can be drawn between the CCPA and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) because the GDPR was the inspiration for many of the included concepts. That said, thinking of the new California law as “GDPR-light” is not accurate.
