Saudi Arabia Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) overview

Saudi Arabia’s new Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) is the nation’s first comprehensive data protection law. The Saudi Arabia PDPL was published in the Official Gazette on September 24, 2021, and is set to enter into force on March 23, 2022.

The Saudi Arabia PDPL covers key principles such as purpose limitation and data minimization, controller obligations, and penalties for breach of the law as well as offering individuals a new set of rights to give greater control over how their data is being collected and used.
