Thailand privacy landscape: Enforcement of the PDPA & New developments

The Thailand Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) was initially intended to take effect in May 2020 but encountered two separate postponements due to the pandemic. The PDPA entered into force on June 1, 2022, and is expected to bring the first consolidated legislation providing general data protection within Thailand.

OneTrust DataGuidance was joined by experts at Baker McKenzie to unpack the requirements brought on by the PDPA along with the variety of new developments and draft laws that have been proposed in Thailand in recent weeks.

Watch the recording to learn:

  • An overview of the enforcement of the PDPA and its new requirements for controllers and processors
  • Key compliance challenges for businesses and how businesses prepared for the PDPA
  • Insight on the different secondary draft notifications, guidelines, and legislation introduced by the PCPD
