The right to opt out of processing is not a new concept for privacy professionals, but it is one that can cause you complex operational challenges.

 

Back in 2018, the GDPR empowered data subjects with the ability to withdraw their consent. Now, in the face of five new privacy laws entering into effect in the US, the right to opt out is becoming ubiquitous. While all five US privacy laws require you to include a conspicuous opt-out link on your organization’s home pages, appropriately handling an opt-out request once the link has been clicked is a more complicated process.
